Sean
O'Connor earned his Master of Science degree in Space Studies from the
American
Military University in 2008. He was a member of the United States
Air Force for ten years, serving as an intelligence analyst.
Initially performing in an operations support capacity, he later
transitioned to a formal training environment as an instructor.
Highlights of his USAF career include multiple deployments to Southwest
Asia in support of US military operations, including a period in 2004
where he served as an analyst in Baghdad, and instructing at both the
Air Mobility Command Intelligence Formal Training Unit and Combat
Aircrew Tactics Studies courses.
In May of 2007 Mr. O'Connor began publishing the IMINT & Analysis
website, focusing on examining important military issues and weapon
systems through the expoitation of open source material and publicly
available overhead imagery. His analysis work has received
wordwide recognition and has been published in Jane's Missiles &
Rockets on numerous occasions.
Mr. O'Connor has specialized in the analysis of air defense networks
and strategic warfighting, and has conducted extensive research in the
following areas:
- Soviet, Russian and Chinese air and missile defense systems
- Soviet, Russian and Chinese ballistic missile forces
- Laser anti-missile and anti-satellite weapon systems
- Strategic air defense network layout and capabilities
- Strategic weapons facilities
